ROLLY DUTRISAC “INDIGENOUS/PIONEER WINTER GAMES”

Roland Dutrisac

at Whitewater Park

Dedication in memory of Roland Dutrisac who has left a legacy as a leader in promoting pioneer games.

It was the Westerners that downplayed the value for fun. Let’s bring the fun through games back.

Competition Divisions and Prize Awards

All registered teams will compete together in the initial competition. Once all teams have completed the events and their final scores have been calculated, the teams will be ranked from highest to lowest based on their overall results.

Two divisions will then be established based on the final rankings:

Division A: The top half of the teams, representing the highest overall scores.
Division B: The bottom half of the teams.

Prize Awards

Prizes will be awarded to the top two teams in each division, based on their final scores within that division.

This format allows all teams to compete together initially while creating two competitive divisions for the final rankings and prize awards. It provides teams of different performance levels with an opportunity to compete for recognition and prizes.

Example: If 10 teams register, teams ranked 1st through 5th will be placed in Division A, and teams ranked 6th through 10th will be placed in Division B. The top two teams in Division A and the top two teams in Division B will receive prizes.

Teams will be notified of times

TEA BOILING

Teams will compete in a timing event that will determine who will be the fastest in creating a fire pit, starting a fire and tea boiling.

TWO PERSON CROSS CUT SAWING

Once again teams will go head-to-head in determining who is the fastest in cutting cookies. A very popular event that will bring a lot of excitement to the games.

SNOW SNAKING

Resembling a snake as it slides down the track is the next competition. This event will have a different twist in that it will be the first of two Captain’s Challenges. The Captains will go head-to-head in earning points to win the infamous Snow Snake challenge. Distance as well as hitting the bullseye will determine winners for this event.

LOG TOSS

One of the traditional lumber jack games where competitors toss logs into a specified area. Strength and accuracy will determine the winner of this game.

SNOW SHOE RELAY

Speed, team work and do not drop the baton or your team will be eliminated. Teams will compete in determining who can complete each heat and go to compete the Snow Shoe Relay finale. Fun guaranteed!

PEA SPITTING

The second Captain’s Challenge. Games would not be the games if we did not include “Pea Spitting.” Recording distances as well as receiving points for being on target will enhance the chances of winning this event.
